I can fly the heck out of my CX2 and anything on my simulator, but have had lots of trouble learning to control the 400. On a recent parts run for yet another round of repairs, the guy at the LHS mentioned that lots of his folks had the same problem and had been very successful adding lead fishing weights to the skids, dramatically increasing the weight and lowering the center of gravity, thereby making the bird less responsive and easier to hover. As they became more proficient, they gradually removed some of the weight, being careful to keep all things symmetrical and balanced, until they were flying without any added weight. The reports he got were very positive. Have any of you guys tried anything like this? I have the weights and plan to try this. I expect shorter flight times, but I have never been able to burn a battery without crashing. I will report on how successful this is for me.

Lots of people in forums have replaced all servos and the gyro with better parts. Has anybody managed to get the original parts working, especially the standard gyro/tail servo in heading hold? I have it working in rate mode but it doesn't seem to work predictably in heading hold. I have 4 clicks of right trim on the tail ( DX6i tx) but the instructions say not to use trim. How does the gyro establish the neutral zone, does it have a fixed value or does it use the value it gets during setup?
Sounds like Startrek. By neutral zone I mean the range of input values for which the gyro gives a neutral position to the servo.

After a crash, I needed to replace gears in the elevator and tail servos. Replacing the gears is pretty straightforward, you just have to keep track of which gear goes where. My problem is happening when I try to get the servo horns back on in the right place. Once the xmitter and heli are powered up and armed, and the servos centered, I believe the horn on the tail servo should be installed at a 90 degree angle to the servo body. Can anyone confirm this?

My bigger problem is setting up the elevator servo again. This one has several linkages involved, but I did not change the length of anything. Does anyone know the correct procedure for the adjustment of this servo following gear replacement?

Well my story is I just purchased a brand new Blade 400 and at the same time purchased a new Swallow battery charger as I heard that the stock charge we crap. I also purchased a new 2200mAh battery.
My task was to convert all the connections to Dean connections so I set about cutting the E-flite plugs off and soldering the new Deans plugs on. It was all going well till the moment I was changing the connector on the Brand new Blade 400 heli.
The wife was nagging for cash and would not go away, she was sending me mad. At that moment I solded the wires on to the Dean plug the wrong way round and never noticed. The wife was still going on (you know what i mean really going on Even slaging my hobby)
I then plugged the battery in to the heli and there was a bang, flash and loads of smoke ----- my world had ended ----and wife ran off thinking the house was soon to blow up.
I have now fixed all the problems with my connections and repaired the ESC and my advice to any one thinking of doing the same task is :(Get a shed at the bottom of the garden, with a lock and traps) LOL
