Successful Repairs!

Thanks for the comprehensive instructions. By closely following the repair process, I successfully replaced the main shaft and feathering shaft. When I turned it up, there were no vibrations, looked perfect. Now if I can get up the nerve to get the thing more than 3 feet off the ground! Any advice on how to get the screw and nut through the gear and main shaft on the bottom? I need 3 hands and eyes on both sides of the machine. I had to get my lovely wife to help thread the nut on the screw. Good thing she is so understanding.

It is a pain! However, here is a suggestion: try to use the Phillips screwdriver shipped with the heli. Push the tip of the screwdriver into nylon (lock-in) side of the nut, just enough to hold it.

Cheers

I've also seen in some shops (usually craft shops) some cotton buds (aka Q-tips) which have a sticky end. I suspect that they would be great for holding that pesky nut while you work the driver with the other hand....

RE: Successful Repairs!

I found an allen wrench with a "ball end" made by Great Planes that not only holds the nut perfectly, but fits the set screws on the heli. A great 2-in-1 tool, so of course I bought 2 of them. They are the size that fits the screws in the ends of the feathering shaft inside the main blade grips.
