Smile  The Elusive Blade 400 Feathering Shaft

For all of you waiting for Blade 400 Feathering Shafts, I installed the TRex Feathering Shaft (HS1003T) and it works great! You get 3 for $5.99. They come with 2 spacers, I only needed to put one on. Install it just like the Blade's. If you need the spacer, put it on the outside just under the screw and screw washer, that way it doesn't interfere with the dampening. I even tipped the heli over on its side and it did not bend.

i tried both of those spacers with the align shaft and it was too tight. know what i did? i used an old race on each end next to the outer race to make up the difference and then washer and cap screw.
works real good. who cares if e-flite runs out of em.

i heard the o-rings are not available now also. is this true?

i don't know if they're out of o-rings or not. given their past on parts, i would believe it.

This is Tombo stepping in again with steps this time.

1. Against the head block on first goes the "O" ring
2. next the step washer, flat side towards the "O" ring. You'll rip it otherwise.
3. next the Thrust bearing.
4. now the blade grip.
5. Into that goes the bearing.
6. Now the shim washers, you may only need 1 each side but sometimes up to 3 each side are required according to how you like to fly. This is a "Personal Preference" thing that you have to work out for yourself. The more shims you put in the stiffer the head becomes.
7. Finally the screw washer and the screw, to hold the whole thing in place.

Now check it out for smoothness of operation and accuracy before doing a tracking check.

Hope that helps.

Try this image:- http://www.slyster.com/heli/bestyet.jpg

The spacers you refer to are I guess the shims.
The actual number is a matter of how tight the blade grip assembly is when you tighten the bolts.
There must be minor variations in blade grip manufacture so the number you need may be 1 - 4.
I have 3 each side up against the 'O' ring currently, which is tight but with some flex curteousy of the 'O' rings.

Hope this helps.Smile
